I feel like this is a bit different than the criticism I get from strangers. I don’t get that much of this from strangers, but it definitely does get worse when you don’t have a good response to it. We just push past the things that are causing us stress. We just keep pushing away the stress and then we start to feel worse about ourselves.
There was a time when I was a fairly normal person. I had a normal relationship with my mother; my relationship with my father was a little rocky. But when my father died, I was left to deal with the loss and grief alone. I was a very happy person for a while, but then I began to feel my life was a sham. I began to feel depressed and began to have anxiety. I went to see my psychiatrist and we discussed my depression.
